Made as it is of the highest quality materials the fire bowl is completely safe but of course certain practices and instructions must be followed to ensure there are no unintended accidents or incidents. The wicks must be trimmed, with a pair of scissors or similar, to no more than 1.0mm above the top of metal wick holder otherwise it can get too hot and sometimes it can smoke or even crack the glass. This is simple to maintain and standard for all products. The correct lamp oil must be used (definitely not ethanol or other alcohol based oils as this again will be too hot) and we recommend an approved brand like Clearcraft smokeless and odourless clear lamp oil which is safe to use as it will not burn without a presence of a wick. A 1L bottle will burn a single wick for around 200 hours. The Fire Bowls can safely be used on glass, wood, stone surface whether indoors or outdoors. If outdoors then we recommend to storing the Fire Pit either inside or under cover after each use as constant rain and moisture can affect both the stainless steel and the wicks. The fire pits do of course get warm. The heat is like having 5 candles in a row so you cannot hold your hands above it for long as too as they would get too hot and you could burn them. In an enclosed space it will warm the area and in the outdoors it generates enough heat to be able to warm your hands around it. They are generally used on a table for ambiance and great atmosphere with some warmth too. If you are concerned about the surface you intend to use then we suggest putting a large trivet or similar under the body, though there is relatively little heat at the base with most heat coming from the top. Keep well away from children in a secure location and under no circumstances allow them to touch, lick or suck the wick nor give them access to the lamp oil in any way. Do not overfill the maximum capacity of 600ml as leakage may occur. Always ignite the firepit on a level and secure surface and never move when lit.

It is important you follow the instructions supplied with the product to ensure your warranty is maintained. Most importantly you must ensure ALL wicks are trimmed to a height of 1mm or even less and that only the correct and approved oil is used. As we say full and clear instructions are supplied.
